starting to race

i currently just cruise my laser around with the exception of a pick-up race every once in a while

i am considering racing competitively(is that how you spell that) @ my local club

does anyone have any suggestions for starting out?
what about some strategy books?
are there any laser simulators on the market that i can use on my computer?

if you have any suggestions im all ears

I currently have 2 books. The first one is by Ben Ainslie published by Fernhurst books. Ainslie won the Olympics in 2000; comes with a CD, mmmmm good stuff. It has a bunch on boat speed. The other is by Dick Tillman and is called The Complete Book of Laser Sailing. Longer & covers more topics. I feel that both of these are must have if you are just starting out. Roostersailing.com has some great info & go-fast techniques..... Also, join the Laser Class! > laser.org
 
all these books are great, but not as great as practice, with practice comes with experience and reading a book doesnt give you experience....... just helps you get to it
