Rigging question

On the Water
I think I already know how this will play out, but I thought I would ask anyway. I have a Phantom (as some of you probably already know). The gooseneck is fixed (riveted) at 20" and there is an eyestrap on the upper boom to attach the halyard. This puts the sail in a position you can see in the attached picture. The reason is that the original Phantom sail was sleeved, not attched by sail rings, so there wasn't a lot of room for adjustment. I'm using a Sunfish sail, so I can move things around if it makes sense.
My question. Would it make a difference if I got an adjustable gooseneck and repositioned the halyard to bring the sail closer to the deck, similar to a race rigged Sunfish?
The sail in the picture is not the one I'm now using. My new sail has a window.

Any reason you can't drill out all rivets and rig the thing like a normal Sunfish? Squirt a shot of foam (not much!) in the holes, or tape. Then you can position the sail any way you want.
