Lessons Learned So Far

Yesterday, I completed my 3rd sail on my recently acquired Laser, taking my daughter out for a spin. Here is what I have learned so far:

1) Setting up on a dock is way harder than on the sand, like I used to with my old Laser years ago!

2) Gotta get some knee pads before I destroy myself setting up the boat on the dock! (see #1 above)

3) Having a passenger sit forward of the mast and dangle her feet makes for way easier tacking, more splashing and laughing....but a slower boat!

4) After 25 years of cat sailing and knowing their characteristics, I now remember that monos turn on a dime and are very willing to toss you right off.

5) Did I mentioned I need knee pads? Geez, all this crawling around for setup and tear down killed me.

6) This is still a fun boat.
