Reese, Fulton and Weston manufacture these add-ons.
They say they can hold a 130 lb. canoe, and that the "uprights" can go wide enough for the big A@@ of a Sunfish.
Weston sounds a little too light in the construction, and don't work well on a taller truck (Expedition) but the other two might work well for the 11 miles at 45 mph between my garage and the back river.
I cannot enjoy a day of sailing (or a night of sleep later) after wrestling this old boat on and off the truck (I don't always have help). If I can get one end up, it is simple to pivot around onto the rack and Foam Noodles and strap her down. Cheaper than a trailer, easier than asking for help loading.
Is anyone using these? Good? Bad?
Much Obliged!
