Ross B is a good chap, you may have seen him running down the corridors of Sailing Anarchy at lunchtimes, but sometimes he gets more than his fair due of the hassle bat. Sometimes, a single comment unleashes a torrent of verbal attacks, and in the heat of the moment threads are moved or locked.

Surely it isn't all his fault?

So to maintain the balance, here is where all of us can meet to discuss Ross' positive contributions and the sacrifices he is making to run for NA class president.

I urge you, if you see him at a regatta, slap him on the back, hand him a beer and say:

    Good on ya mate! :D

*Vote Ross... he's doing it for you!*

i must admit, i'm starting to feel uneasy about RossB's total commitment to the office of President and the Laser Class. i just don't feel confident when i read of his wandering into other classes - Finns, Mumm 30's etc.
His backers need a full disclosure on his sailing habits. will he be true to the Laser, or are we just a passing fancy?

"Vote Ross... maybe, cause he's doing it in other classes, too !

I don't mind Ross trying out other classes. It will only serve to help him understand why the Laser is the best boat in the world. I think Ross should be president because he has so many crazy new ideas it will keep all the rest of us involved in class affairs trying to work out which of the 1 in 100 are worth adopting and shooting down the other 99.

"Vote for Ross. In your guts you know he's nuts."

But...While we are busy campaigning for a vibrant, foreword thinking and youthfully enthusiastic bunch of officers....

we really need to be careful not to turn this forum into Sailing Anarchy.

On this forum, fun and clever are always welcome but we have always managed to accomplish our fun and clever without resorting to piggishness and gross humor.

The mommies want to see us succeed.
( Mommies defined for this post> anybody old who is still contributing or managing our play and in any way feels an obligation to 'mother' the Laser game.)
The mommies know, the game will not succeed in the long term if those who manage it are only entertaining because they are offensive.
For that reason the mommies will do their best to keep control until the mommies believe the new kids are grown up enough to be able to sustain their management and continue to run things long term..
We have to keep our humor edgy but it must also be bounded by what have always been this forum's well defined community standards.

I an not an official anything. I am an old fart. I hope this post was idiot proof enough for all of us to comprehend.

Right on gouvernail. We want this place to be more vibrant, forward thinking and enthusiastic than Sailing Anarchy. We want folk to come to the Laser Forum in droves because they find it more lively, more edgy, more informative than Sailing Anarchy.

We want debate and discussion and information and argument and jokes and laughter and fun. We sail because it's fun. We sail to escape the "mommies" of either sex who try to over-manage and over-organize and over-protect our land-based existence. The sea is about freedom.

So that's why Ross and folk like him are always welcome here. They are the life and soul of the forum. Let's have more youngsters like Ross sailing Lasers and more of them participating here.

Vote for Ross because he's vibrant, forward-thinking and enthusiastic. Let freedom ring.

Thanks a lot guys, nice to know the people love me!

Many of you know that my feelings have changed about this forum, and I might just stick with my other crowd as the powers at be are trying to oust me here, we'll see what happens.

They can never oust the spirit of youth from the class or the forum. If they ban Ross there will be a dozen new Rosses and Ribeccas to take your place. But let's hope they are not so crazy as to evict the brightest new spark to catch light around here in many a year.

Ask not what your Laser can do for you; ask what Ross can do for the Laser

    Oh, Oh, another one-liner

OhGee, darling, Ross the brightest spark in many a year? I think you need your medication adjusted. Yeah, he had a couple of new ideas. It wasn’t determined that they were great for the Laser class. Maybe yes, maybe no. He knows some about Lasering, too, but his delivery stank, sweetheart. Yeah, I admit I have a “thing” for Bradley. Love that authoritative voice! Oooh!

    P.S. I’m NOT back, and I don't HAVE a website!
