I picked up a free boat (86) and the mast step had been repair poorly with some marinetex (or other) along the lower sides and the bottom in an uneven way. The mast step leaks and the mast only goes in 13 inches, when it should go in 14 inches. I want to sand or grind that out a bit. Any...
fyi, this is the advice I got from Jim, of Intensity Sails. I plan to try that.
I'm not sure about the dirt. I do have a toilet bowl cleaner that I have used in the past to clean out water. (You can make one by attaching a sponge to a stick) But it might not be abrasive enough to do hard...
Hi,
I have read through a variety of advice on putting in the metal disks (for older boats that do not already have them), but I am still not clear on the best method ( and I can't post to the older threads).
1) (Scott at the Boathouse) suggests putting 1/4 inch 4200 at the bottom of the...

the homemade solution seems too labor intensive,

any other ideas?
Does anyone know why the Australian laser radial sailor did a 360 near the end of the last race? That seemed to drop her back to 4th, and Anna from 3rd to 2nd.
From what I could tell Australia was leeward boat and was not rocking, and in any case a foul would be a 720 wouldn't it?

We did sail Sunday, in Newport:
Surprise, we did go out racing yesterday. After arriving at Sail Newport and seeing the opti kids and the St. Georges team out we decided we would give it a try. We got three races off in nuclear conditions that provided exciting rides and some awesome wipe...
Hi,
Does anyone know why the Storm (made by North Sails, I think) bottom cover has a hole in the middle? I could see it making sense to line up for drainage from the cockpit (when the boat is right-side up), but it is forward of that. I just think is going let water between the cover and the...
For a bow tiedown I use one line from one corner of the car to the bow eye. I tie it there (half hitches) and then run it up to the handle of the Seitech dolly. I tie it there and then run it down to the other corner of the car.
I've been driving with it like this for years with no problem...
