Hey Alysum - I'd say go for it. Sure there will be all the top guys there, but the state fleets normally have good depth, and people still learning to sail in reggatas. You will no doubt learn a lot. Great waterway to sail on too.

Boathouse - you have just as much reason for bias as Intensity. You are after all motivated by the same thing - financial profit. As such I thought you would support the free market economy? Obviously "Big Brother Laser" has had a word in your ear?
Mine jammed totally mid race in the first heat of the last regatta I sailed.
I couldn't get back to the beach and had to sail the whole day with the outhaul stuck in one spot.
I have since gone back to the strap, and had no probs. I'm sure the strap holds the leech tighter as well. Mostly...
Merrily. I think you need to see how it functions on the race course. We have lot's of female sailors in Australia and they are all happy to use this system.
They have no problem with mixed fleets, but they do deserve the respect of having a seperate competition at higher level regattas...
Your right LU, it is already accepted at the top level of sailing, and nobody has a problem with it. It's unlikely to ever affect the club sailor in any way.
Your also right that RIB needs a good lie down. He has a distictive style to his posting that no-one else could copy. I do acknowledge...
