Sunfish Rudder Conversion

I have the old rudder and hardware and wish to convert to the newer system to match my other sunfish. can some one recommend a source for the conversion parts?

Or find a "donor" hull.

You'll have to cut an inspection port because of the difference in how the newer rudder mounts. You need a backing block for the attachment screws to bite into and to spread the load.

I found my parts by placing an ad here.
The new system should come with an aluminum backing plate.

I added an inspection port and installed the new parts in about 45 min. Much easier then I expected.

Yes, you probably can find the parts here or on eBay. Prices vary so hopefully you'll have a choice of parts and prices.

And use the aluminum plate referenced above. Screwing into wood for this would be ill advised.
