Funny Question

I have sailed once or twice and I understand the concept of tacking and jibing. Recently I went on vacation and went to a rental place that rented out kayaks, SUPs, and hobie cats. In order to rent the hobie cats, I had to answer a question. The guy said something like "For starters, here at COMAPNY NAME, if you rent a catamaran, we don't allow jibing. Secondly, you have to answer a question: what is the difference between jibing and tacking"

Ok, so first off, I was confused when he said we couldn't jib, because how was I supposed to rent a catamaran if I couldn't jib? I understand that you can just go straight downwind instead of jibing but if you tack, don't you have to jib to come back?

And secondly, I explained how jibing was used to zigzag downwind with the sails pulled out more than a tack. And that a tack was a zigzag upwind with the sails pulled in more.

I think that's a pretty quick and correct answer, but he just stared at me and was like "ummmmm that's not really the answer I was looking for."
That confused me a great deal and I said I guess i didn't quite understand the question. Then he said he couldn't rent me a catamaran unless I took an onsite training talk which was way overpriced.
