RS Feva specs vs Sunfish

Why do you need a daggerboard slot reinforcement kit?

One can use a strip of carpet or (foam) insulation that one glues in.
Hook and loop strips work well (use the 'loop' part).

I manage a boat rental facility in a county park in North Carolina. The lake that the boats are used on is a flood control lake, meaning it is very shallow in some parts and has a high volume of debris that washes into it every time it rains hard. We have 13 Sunfish available to rent, all of which have damage to the daggerboard trunks. It is inevitable that damage will happen to the boats either due to unforeseen underwater structures (stumps, sandbars, other debris, etc.), or by the carelessness/inexperience of the renters. Strips of carpet or foam is not going to protect the trunks when the daggerboard is slammed into a submerged object, so I am looking for something more substantial. The best option so far is to ensure the users are experienced, the obstacles are marked well, and potentially buying a different style of boat without a daggerboard. However for now we are stuck with just the Sunfish and the problem persists.
