New Office for the US Sunfish Class Association

I think it happened just a couple weeks ago. I believe it is the same office that manages Losers Lasers.

This is quickly becoming the address for every sailing class. Or at least a lot of them. What an interesting business idea for a handful of sailing enthusiasts!

The company is One Design Management (ODM) founded by the long time manager (and apparently a sailing mom) for the Snipe class. Back in 2002 USSailing had rcognized ODMs eventual founder for her youth regatta volunteer organizing efforts, and she apparently parlayed her class management experience into an interesting business.

ODM currently is the class office for Snipe, Laser, 29er, Etchells, ISSA (high school sailing), and now Sunfish class. Her cofounder is reportedly a CPA and now multi-class treasurer. As class stalwarts like our own Beadle's have to look toward passing the baton, this makes an interesting option.

With ODMs now critical mass, and targeted niche, it would be tough to see anyone else competing with them in this type of venture. As long as they do a decent job it seems that they now have a remarkably solid foot-hold.

What a great example of identifying an obvious need and coming up with a solution that should have been clear to everyone, and making something of it.
