A few weeks ago my GPS told me I was surfing waves at 8.7 knots in my Laser in a pleasant day (less than 15 knots). I've sailed much faster than that while racing regattas with wind blowing at 25 knots (no GPS during regattas).

My Ronstan Battlestick 49" fits very well in my IntensitySails bag. The bag has adjustable velcro straps for closing the tiller pocket that are long enough for tiller extensions of 48" and more.

I use a VHF handy tied to my vest. You only need to push one button to talk, can listen to everyone on the selected channel and there is no need to dial a long number (quite hard when the boat is moving).
You can download the new rules from the ISAF web site in PDF format at http://www.sailing.org/tools/documents/ISAFRRS20132016Final-%5B13376%5D.pdf

An old teacher tought me "always go against the wind so you can return with the wind when you are tired and never underestimate the current or you may be unable to return to the dock". I followed that advise and never regreted it.

After loosing expensive prescription eye glasses and having another pair scratched with salty water, I'm now using disposable contact lenses and polarized sunglasses.
A friend gave me these sunglasses: http://www.intensitysails.com/wawasu.html and I found them OK for sailing when using contact...

The knots that lock the blocks in the line are not needed. Just pass the line around the mast above and below the gooseneck. Tie the...
BTW, Local regulations forbid kids sailing Optimists without a coach in a boat that could rescue them. Kids can sail an Optimist until they are 15; they cannot sail on their own until they are at least 16 and get a license from the coastguard.
We were about 100 sailors (~40 Lasers and 60 Optimists) floating while the wind was changing. We gathered in groups around the 10 or 12 coach boats and the RC boat. We all shared water, coke, cookies and had a good time. None cared about "unfair advantages". Some kids jumped from their...
About three weekends ago, I participated in a multi-class race. My three kids were racing their Optimists and I asked their coach to carry my water bottle. After race one, wind started to shift and we have to wait 2 hours for the wind to settle before race two. It was great to have a support...
